The Product Strategy and Development (PSD) team oversees product development and innovation; and manages Sustainalytics’ product portfolio, in alignment with corporate priorities. The team is seeking an Associate Product Manager to support the development, operationalization and ongoing management of impact-focused products at Sustainalytics. The emphasis of the role will be on supporting the Product Manager with both product management (product maintenance, quality assurance, client inquiries etc.) and product development (conceptualization, requirement writing, project management, etc.) responsibilities. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to strengthening our suite of impact-oriented products within a broader community of product managers.

Overall, this role requires someone who excels in an environment where there is a diversity of work and someone who enjoys working both independently and on a team. The ideal candidate will have some experience in both product development in the financial services industry, and application of ESG and impact research in investment processes.


Product Development

  • Supporting the development and operationalization of new impact-focused products, by collaborating with methodological, technical, research, and product operations teams to bring new products to the market.
  • Gathering market intelligence and providing insights on changing competitor landscape and market needs to inform product strategy and feature development priorities.
  • Developing requirements documentation for methodology, technology and research teams and project managing the development processes.

Product Management

  • Supporting Product Manager in maintaining and improving existing product portfolio, as well as maintaining product documentation for internal and external users.
  • Communicating with internal and external stakeholders about products, including supporting client relations teams and responding to client inquiries.
  • Monitoring client and market feedback, to inform product improvement priorities, and identifying and implementing solutions to address immediate product concerns.
  • Developing quality assurance processes and troubleshooting issues if/when they arise.


    • Master’s degree in related discipline (business, economics, environment and/or social sciences) or Bachelor’s degree with relevant experience;
    • At least 3-5 years of relevant work experience, especially related to using ESG and impact research in investment process, impact measurement, and/or impact investing.
    • Prior experience in product management and product development in financial services, and project management considered an asset.
    • Highly motivated problem-solver, with a proven ability to excel in environments where there is a high degree of uncertainty and/or lack of structure;
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
    • A genuine team player who achieves objectives and overcomes challenges through close collaboration and coordination with other teams (including technical, data and content, client services and sales);
    • Alignment with Sustainalytics’ mission, vision and values.
