The Methodology team is a newly created team with a target size of 14 team members based in Toronto and Frankfurt. The team’s main responsibilities are to lead development of the methodology and related features across all Sustainalytics research products, to maintain and support existing research methodologies, and to publish methodology/product-related pieces of research.


The position is of key strategic importance to the company as you will contribute to the methodology development of new products as well as the enhancement of existing products. The person in this position will be responsible for supporting methodology managers and leadership with multiple types of quantitative analysis on our products and product prototypes.


  • Collaborate with methodology managers on methodology & product development; translation of product ideas into data-driven models that can be implemented and tested;
  • Testing of internal and external validity of a model/methodology including change/impact analyses and portfolio performance analyses;
  • Interpretation and communication of testing results;
  • Creation of simplified versions of original models (model reduction) by using statistical optimization techniques;
  • Utilizing big data/data science to develop non-research-based metrics;
  • Collaborate with methodology managers and other internal stakeholders on creating technical documentation and implementing new methodologies or methodological changes.

  • Bachelors or master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, data science, econometrics or related sciences;
  • 1-2 years’ work experience;
  • A strong skillset that could include a background in quantitative analysis, programming, statistics, econometrics, modelling, and/or big data processing;
  • Creativity and problem solving that can be applied in real-life applications;
  • Strong MS Excel knowledge, with experience with Python, Minitab/other statistical software considered an asset;
  • Ability to work independently and within a strong team environment.
