ABOUT THE TEAM:

The Sustainable Finance Solutions (SFS) Team is a rapid growth business that is responsible for developing and bringing ESG products to multi-national corporations and financial institutions. Our services include green/social/sustainability bond second-party opinions, licensed ESG ratings to corporates and other services that help our clients to provide sustainability insights to investors and lenders.

Additionally, the ESG Risk Rating licenses from Sustainalytics have been used by various corporates and banks for creating Sustainability Linked Loans. This successful new business is already surpassing sales forecasts. See our Sustainable Finance Solutions website for more information.


POSITION PURPOSE & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This exciting new position is focused on contributing to the development and commercial success of Sustainalytics’ new corporate Performance Analytics offering. As part of the SFS team’s value proposition to corporate clients, our in-depth Performance Analytics service is expected to support the enhancement of ESG strategies and programs for corporates. Reporting to the Project Manager, the associate will be uniquely positioned to help co-create this offering and will ultimately become a key liaison for the product.

Key aspects of the role include supporting an extensive sustainability performance analysis for corporate clients across industry peer groups and the Sustainalytics research universe to identify gaps and best practices. Engage with internal research, commercial and product management teams to support corporate clients and contribute to product development. For this unique opportunity we are seeking a candidate with strong research and analytical skills, and a commercial and client-centric approach, who thrives in a dynamic work environment. 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop a strong foundation of Sustainalytics’ ESG Risk Rating product suite.
  • Conduct gap analyses to derive insights on corporate best practices and key areas of improvement; across Sustainalytics’ industry classifications.
  • Act as an internal collaborator across technical platforms and solutions; to support product development and in the creation of complex excel-based output and client-ready deliverables via PowerPoint;
  • Liaise the development of industry specific insights in collaboration with internal research teams.
  • Support the research manager in designing and maintaining quality assurance procedures for the gap analysis tool and client deliverables.
  • Maintain a database of industry trends, insights, examples and best practices.
  • Support the manager during the presentation of the Performance Analytics deliverables; or lead the delivery to the client’s management team over video calls (in-person, if needed);


QUALIFICATIONS:

The ideal candidate needs to be a genuine team player who can reach objectives individually, as well as through close collaboration and coordination with other team members. Key qualifications include:

  • 3+ years of experience in the sustainability research and/or corporate consulting;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Passion for sustainability and demonstrated interest in sustainable finance;
  • Degree in related discipline (business, finance, sustainability, engineering);
  • Client-centric and commercial approach;
  • Strong work ethic and eagerness to learn in a constantly evolving and fast-paced environment;
  • Strong technical expertise (Excel Visual Basic Application, Microsoft Office Suite);
  • Experience managing multiple, disparate projects simultaneously;
  • Collaboration with stakeholders from multiple internal teams and levels;
  • Ability to work towards strict deadlines and high-quality standards;
  • Alignment with Sustainalytics’ mission, vision and values.
