POSITION PURPOSE

To lead and support the On Demand Core Rating Team (ODCRT) team (currently 4 FTEs and planning to scale up in the 2nd half of 2021) in all aspects of their work, overseeing the ESG ratings.

The ODCRT conducts the research by using a transparent methodology across ESG factors and is tasked to produce and maintain high quality supply chain ESG ratings in a timely manner in order to successfully compete with well-established rival products.

The research team assesses suppliers for which ESG ratings has been requested from the Client (Buyer) in order to improve their supply chain management. Alternatively, suppliers proactively request a rating to demonstrate their strength on managing ESG factors.

Moreover, ODCRT is responsible for delivering batches of research on a monthly basis while maintaining credible, robust, and defendable ESG ratings across the designated research universe.

The research team will need to further leverage the existing core expertise and language skills (English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Japanese).


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Stimulate leadership in the ODCRT: Build an engaged team that understands its mandate in the organization, and the strategic direction of the wider organization;
  • Team Management: Determine the strategy of the ODCRT; Ensure that ODCRT analysts and team lead are motivated and are developing along the career paths;
  • Drive results: Ensure that the resources carefully planned, so that the batches of companies (suppliers) are delivered/updated according to client requirement (in time, against the expected quality, within budget); Define key metrics for team success, and report the status on a monthly/quarterly/annual basis; Inform senior management about risks/challenges;
  • Content Management: Stimulate high quality research by enhancing analyst guidance. Organize capacity building initiatives and implement robust quality control tools to measure quality and take corrective measures in case quality is at risk.
  • Process Management: Design and improve business processes to generate the ESG ratings. Ensure that key research processes are mapped and documented in SOPs, and improvements are being made to make the business processes is more efficient, less error prone. Promote and maintain a strong collaboration with other stakeholders in Sustainalytics to timely produce the supply chain ESG ratings. Stimulate a strong quality culture in the team and ensure strong quality assurance practices are applied;
  • Project Management: Stimulate a project management approach when new initiatives are undertaken and encourage the use of project management best practices and tools;
  • Technical Tools: Work with internal stakeholders to further develop the technical tools which are needed by the team to generate the class II ESG Risk Ratings.
  • Cross Functional Collaboration: Work closely together with other internal colleagues within the Global Research Team but also other Sustainalytics’ teams.
  • Supplier Support: Respond to research inquiries (e.g., about a subject company) and support supplier calls regarding specific class ESG ratings.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master’s degree
  • 2+ years’ experience in research
  • 4+ years’ experience in people management
  • Strong project management and execution skills
  • 2+ Experience with process management
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with ease and manage competing interests
  • Ability to enhance methodological frameworks
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Demonstrated passion for sustainability
  • Strong analytical skills and creative, problem-solving attitude; decisiveness
